Picking up momentum

Hi Guys

It seems as if people are beginning to think about the difficult questions they are wanting to ask. It's been a while since we've blogged but since May 13, the following difficult questions have come our way:

HERE'S QUESTION #1

"I have heard on impact radio that when you die, you go straight either to heaven or hell
John Higgie used an example from when Jesus was on the cross. Jesus said to the one guy that he'll be with Jesus in paradise today. Today, being the keyword.

John basically said that according to the Bible there was no such thing as Hades, a place between death and heaven or hell.
But Luke 16:23 and Revelation 6:8 both mention Hades. A few of my past teachers have said that there is and isnt a Hades. I myself dont quite understand the whole Hades - a place between paradise and death - a place either here or there.

So my difficult question:
what happens when we die? do we go straight to God, or hell. OR do we go into the 'place where we wait until the final judgement'?"

ANOTHER DIFFICULT QUESTION IS ABOUT ANGELS:

I was reading Hebrews and at the end of chapter 1 it speaks of angels who help those who have come to salvation. So, here is my question:
If God is all powerful why does He need angels, who are they, and what is their purpose?

LASTLY, WE WERE ASKED ABOUT DEATH:

Why do some christians fear death when they know they will be with God?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Food for thought, yeah? We'll be dealing with some of these in the weeks to come... swing by the shed (cnr Primula & Garsfontein, Moreleta Park) Sunday nights at 18h00...

New Questions

So, here I am on a Monday morning, doing the usual email catch-up before staff meeting and suddenly feel this surge of excitement. Finally, someone has sent mail and has asked a difficult question...

Then I open it and it says: "How do I send email?" Well... chat to me on Sunday & I'll explain.

Momentarily dissillusioned, I check my inbox and again, the excitement grows: another difficult question. This time it's real:

"How do we fear God if we love Him so much?" That's a big one! The fear of God and loving God. Are they mutually exclusive? Can we do both? Let's interact on this one.

Hi Guys, Here are some questions that came from an email we recieved last Sunday:

  • What can I do about Christians who are negative all the time & complain a lot?
  • How do you handle difficult family relationships?
  • If someone you know drinks (alcohol) a lot, what is the best way to address that?

Maybe some of you would like to comment. Do so by clicking the link below. If you want to ask a difficult question, send an email to eastside.uth@gmail.com

All questions will be posted on this site anonymously.

Where are your questions?

Hey guys,

Only 2 responses so far... and 1 can be ignored because the poster called the blogmaster a BLOBmaster... I take offence! Check the next post to see the issues that came up in an email we recieved from a young guy last week.
